After twenty-five years in prison, Robert “Bobby” Washington makes a single request: to meet the daughter of the woman he killed.
Teresa De La Rosa has spent her life building distance from that night. When Bobby asks to meet, her instinct is resistance. But beneath the anger is a need to understand.
As their lives become intertwined, a journey into the California desert asks something of them that justice alone cannot.

Beyond the screen
The Reconciliation brings restorative justice into the conversation—giving space to those who have suffered loss, those who have caused harm, and the communities changed by both.
Through storytelling, screenings, and dialogue, the film explores how accountability and truth can interrupt cycles of violence.
A structured, facilitated process that brings together people who have caused harm, people who have been harmed, and, when appropriate, their community. It begins with careful preparation, accountability, and the choice of those impacted about whether and how to participate.
Guided dialogue creates room for questions, acknowledgment, and understanding. As the film’s mission explains, its aim is truth, with agency and support for those harmed. The past cannot be undone, but the future can be shaped.
Facing harm honestly, beyond a legal statement.
Making room for the questions left unanswered.
Exploring what becomes possible when the truth is faced.
